Give your costumes another chance to shine.

Reimagine Costume Resale is a curated consignment platform specializing in pre-loved custom dance costumes.

We make it easier for dancers, families, and studios to resell costumes without having to photograph, list, clean, market, or communicate with buyers themselves. In addition to selling online, we work directly with dancers and studios throughout the Greater Toronto Area to help costumes find their next home.

Selling With Reimagine

1. Reach Out to Us

Have custom dance costumes you’re ready to part with?

Start by getting in touch with Reimagine and letting us know approximately what you have. 

You do not need to create individual listings, take detailed measurements, professionally photograph each costume, or decide on pricing before reaching out.

From there, we’ll coordinate the easiest way to get your costumes to us.

Depending on your location and the number of costumes, this may include:

• Drop-off
• Local pick-up
• Shipping your costumes to us

We’ll work out the best option with you directly.

Please keep in mind we currently can only list costumes from you if you are based in Canada.

2. We Review Your Costumes

Once the costumes arrive, we go through them individually and determine which pieces we believe are a good fit for Reimagine and have strong resale potential.

We consider factors such as:

• Style and design
• Condition
• Age
• Designer or costume maker
• Original quality and construction
• Current resale demand
• Uniqueness and versatility

Not every costume we receive will necessarily be selected for resale.

Any costumes we decide not to consign will be returned to you.

This allows us to keep the Reimagine collection curated while saving you the work of sorting through and creating listings for every costume yourself.

3. We Photograph, Prepare & List the Selected Costumes

For the costumes we choose to consign, we take it from there.

Reimagine handles:

• Reviewing the costume’s condition
• Cleaning the costume
• Photographing it
• Preparing the listing
• Determining or recommending the resale price
• Marketing it through our website and network
• Communicating with prospective buyers
• Answering buyer questions
• Coordinating the sale
• Managing the buyer experience

We also work directly with dancers and studios throughout Canada and the U.S.A., giving costumes opportunities to be seen beyond our online shop.

4. We Determine the Price

For most sellers, Reimagine will recommend the resale price for each costume we select.

Pricing is based on factors such as the costume’s original value, designer, age, condition, style, detailing, uniqueness, and current resale demand.

Reimagine’s recommended pricing is used by default.

If you would prefer to set your own prices, that’s completely fine — you just need to explicitly let us know before your costumes are listed.

5. Your Costume Sells

Reimagine operates on a 40/60 consignment split based on the final sold price.

You receive 60% of the sold price and Reimagine receives 40%.

For example, if your costume sells for $200, you receive $120 and Reimagine receives $80.

There is also a maximum commission:

Reimagine will never keep more than $100 from the sale of a single costume.

So, if a costume sells for $400, Reimagine receives $100 and you receive $300.

Your portion of the sale is sent to you by E-transfer once the sale has been completed.

We carry one-of-a-kind custom costumes for solos, duets, trios, groups, and a wide range of dance styles.

Because our inventory is constantly changing, we also encourage dancers and studios to reach out if they are looking for something specific.

We regularly work with studios and may be able to help source:

• Matching group costumes
• Multiple costumes in similar styles
• Specific colours or themes
• Solo, duet, or trio costumes
• Costumes for upcoming competition seasons

There’s no lengthy listing form and no need to prepare every costume individually.

We’ll coordinate getting the costumes to us, review them, select the pieces we believe we can successfully resell, and take care of the rest.
